If you’re currently working in the construction industry, you’ll know exactly how important CSCS cards are. Almost all construction companies expect employees to own a CSCS card relevant to their job role. This is because a CSCS card demonstrates that an individual has received the necessary training to safely perform specific tasks on a construction site. If you don’t have your CSCS card to hand, it is far more difficult to prove your credentials.
Therefore, if your CSCS card were to become lost, stolen, or damaged, you (and your employer) would likely be extremely eager to source a replacement.
In this article, we’ll provide information on how to replace your CSCS card should an issue occur. This includes discussing the different ways you can apply for a new card, the costs involved, and the expected delivery timeframe.
How to replace your lost, stolen, or damaged card
The easiest way to replace your card is through the CSCS online portal. If you originally applied for your CSCS card online, you’ll have already registered for a CSCS account. Simply log in to your account and follow the on-screen instructions to order a replacement card.
If you didn’t originally apply for your card this way but still want to order a replacement via the CSCS online service, this option is still available. You’ll be able to complete this process as soon as you’ve created a CSCS account. Furthermore, you’ll also have access to plenty of other information, such as updates on card applications, expiry dates of any cards you currently hold, and a record of CSCS card programs you were previously affiliated with.
Applying online is the most efficient way to replace your CSCS card. However, you can also complete this process via telephone if you so wish. You can do this by contacting the CSCS team on 0344 994 4777. Please note that an advisor will be available to take your call from between 8.00am to 6.00pm from Monday through to Friday. Lines are closed on weekends.
Please note that if you believe your card was stolen, you should report this incident to the police.
Can anybody else organise the replacement of my card?
If your employer originally applied for your CSCS card on your behalf via the online Employer Application Form, they will also be able to order a replacement for you via their employer CSCS account.
A colleague, close friend, or family member can make a replacement card application on your behalf. However, the CSCS advisor answering the call will require you to provide consent for another party to conduct your application. You will also need to ensure the individual calling on your behalf has your CSCS registration or national insurance number to hand. These measures are taken to protect your personal security.
What will my replacement card look like, and how long will it take to arrive?
The replacement card will be an exact replica of your original. All of the qualification details noted on the back of your first card will be present, and the same expiry date will feature on the front.
If you made your application online, you should receive your CSCS card within three to ten working days. Replacement applications made by phone may take a little longer to arrive. All cards are delivered to the home address of the recipient. If you haven’t received your card within the aforementioned timeframe, it’s worth calling the CSCS to check on progress. To do this, contact the number given in the previous section.
How much does a CSCS replacement card cost?
All CSCS cards – regardless of grade or whether they have been lost, stolen, or damaged – are priced at £28. Although this isn’t overly expensive, you’ll clearly want to avoid repeatedly paying any fee. Therefore, ensure you keep your CSCS card in a safe place.
