Qualifying the workforce
To ensure that we have a fully qualified workforce by 2010, we'll need to provide training courses for specialist trades, safely integrate migrant workers, and licence the 500,000 skilled workers who lack formal qualifications.

THE ISSUE

The construction industry is seeing a growth in demand for specialist trades throughout the supply chain in both new build and repair and refurbishment. Manufacturers are continually launching new products for which new skills are required, and for which there are currently no training courses accredited to Vocational Qualifications. It is critically important that the industry has the required levels of specialist skills to meet this demand.
