What is a National Skills Academy for Construction?

ConstructionSkills’ has received government endorsement for a National Skills Academy (‘the Academy’) for construction. ConstructionSkills aims to establish a National Skills Academy as a Centre of Excellence for Work Based Learning. The main focus of the Academy is to provide a range of learning and development opportunities for people that are centred on construction projects.

The Academy does not envisage a one-off capital investment in a static ‘Academy’ building, but aims to consolidate a series of assets linked around a Central Hub co-ordinating national quality standards, the sharing of best practice principles and innovative training techniques amongst the industry and a series of Regional Partnerships that are established around the nine English Regions and the three Devolved Administrations.
