National Skills Academy
ConstructionSkills' vision is to establish a National Skills Academy for Construction ('the Academy') as a Centre of Excellence for Work Based Learning. The main focus of the Academy will be the establishment of project-based training centres on all major construction projects.

What is the timescale for the Academy?

February 2006 - Briefing meetings in Manchester and London to introduce the project to the wide range of stakeholders involved in making the Academy work.

April 2006 - First draft of the Business Plan sent to Learning Skills Council (LSC).

May 2006 – Consultation workshops held to develop various key aspects of the Business Plan.

May 2006 – Workshop discussions to draw up plans to launch the National Skills Academy Partnerships in the South West, South East and West Midlands.

June 2006 - Final draft of the Business Plan submitted to the LSC.

October 2006 – The launch of the National Skills Academy Network.

November 2006 – The launch of the National Skills Academy for Construction.
